A type of psychedelic drug, LSD or Lysergic Acid Diethylamide is mainly sourced from Ergot – a type of fungus that can be found in grains. When it is consumed, whether in the form of capsules, pills or liquid, LSD can lead to trance-like effects and often include euphoric states, spiritual experiences and synesthetic distortions.
Dose of LSD
A single dose of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide can be around 100 – 500 mcg in dose. This is more or less equal to what a sand grain is, in terms of mass. The potency of LSD is much, given that its effects can be already experienced even when consumed in as low amounts as just 25 mcg. These drugs are sold in very small amounts on the streets.
For LSD to be fatal, it has to be in 200 mcg or even more. However, no known cases of LSD overdose have been reported yet. But a few investigations have come up with a fact that an occurrence in 1975 of an LSD overdose resulted in death. This occurred due to LSD being administered in the form of an intravenous infusion.
This is a very powerful drug, and when it is consumed, it leads to the distortion of feelings and thoughts. Taking just 100 – 200 millionths of a gram can make an individual experience something called a “trip” or a hallucinogenic journey that can last for as long as half a day, or 12 hours. Many people feel that regular consumption of LSD does not lead to a physical dependency. While that may or may not be true, and needs more studies and research to determine the reality, a psychological dependency can obviously happen.
How Much LSD Should Be Consumed?
There is no one-size-fits-all dosage of LSD that can be recommended, either for medical or recreational uses. It is always a good idea to have a proper consultation with a doctor when it comes to using LSD for medical purposes. Keep in mind that any excess of this drug can lead to problems, and overuse of LSD over some time can be fatal or at least, psychologically harmful. There can be severe mental health problems due to an overdose of this drug, and behavioral therapy, support and counseling might be required in order to come out of the problems. Thus, it is important to have this drug always in moderation and follow the recommendations of a qualified doctor, as far as dosage is concerned.
