LSD VS Mushrooms – What are the Differences?
Psychedelics, when considered as a whole, comprise of various substances. However, few of these are as popular as Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) and “Magic” mushrooms. The two have some types of similarities, but there can be very different experiences when you consume LSD and mushrooms.
Both LSD and psilocybin mushrooms can result in:
- Openness to new ideas
- Visual and auditory hallucinations
- Paranoid delusions
- Spiritual awakenings
- Distorted perception of time
- Dilated pupils
- Elevated blood pressure
- Rapid heart rate
- Philosophical breakthroughs
- Sensation of stationary objects appearing to be mobile
- Sensation of solid objects appearing to be melting
- More sense of connection
- Changes in sense of smell, touch and taste
- Fear of death
- Occasionally, there can be tremors, numbness and sweat.
Method of Ingestion
Generally, mushrooms are dried (in case they are not in a dried form already) and brewed into a tea or consumed. At times, LSD is ingested in a liquid form, with the help of a dropper. However, it is commoner for LSD to be applied to tiny paper tabs, which can easily dissolve in the mouth.
Over a period, you may develop a tolerance to mushrooms as well as LSD. Generally however, to produce psychedelic effects, much less LSD is needed than psilocybin mushrooms. Thus, it is more convenient to have more LSD than can be tolerated. When combined with more lasting duration of effects, it can explain why you can hear more “bad” trip reports in case of LSD than psilocybin mushrooms.
Time of Onset
Following intake, both psilocybin mushrooms and LSD take around an hour to produce effects on an empty stomach. When you take this after having a meal, it can take more time for the effects to kick in.
Duration of the Effects
Generally, a “trip” from the intake of a mushroom can be around 6 hours. On the other hand, an LSD trip can go for around up to 12 hours. The time frame might be more in case of LSD, but the “trips” are reported to be felt faster than in case of mushroom trips. It is, however, important to note that the time frame might differ much from one user to another.
